Random Thursdays: Top 4 K-pop songs in my Spotify playlist- July

In my “about me” page, I talked about how I love K-pop. I have written a blog on the top 4 songs I have in my playlist in may, sadly I didn’t do for June. I was supposed do it in the first weeks of July and now we are at the end, so I’m gonna be sharing what songs I have been listening to in this month. Let’s get into it!

PTT(Paint The Town) by LOONA: It was released on June 28, 2021.Ever since this was released, I wasn’t interested much, now it’s just grown on me. The Indian vibes, the hardcore dancing and interesting vocals really stood out to me. The one thing that made me happy about this comeback is that Haseul came back from her hiatus and she’s stronger than ever!

Next Level by aespa: It was released on May 17, 2021. This was such an anticipated comeback and I was so excited, the teaser photos were so beautiful too! when it finally released, I was kind of having mixed opinions. It was like listening to 5 songs at the same time and was quite confusing. After a while, I started to love it. Winter and Ningning’s vocals slapped in the verses, Giselle and Karina finally got raps and I was so happy.

Don’t fight the feeling by EXO: It was released on June 7, 2021. It has been a year since we had a comeback from them and when the notification came that EXO is coming back, I legit thought I was in a dream. This comeback has only 7 members which includes Chanyeol, Baekhyun, Kai, Sehun, D.O, Xiumin and Lay. The rest of the members are in the military(including Baekhyun and Chanyeol, they left after they finished filming). When it released, I was quite happy with the comeback. It was quite cheerful and had soulful vocals, rap and it had also fit their overall concept and storyline of their career.

First by Everglow: It was released on May 25, 2021. When I first listened to this song, I felt it was different from their other comebacks. It has more of a boy-group choreo and hard hitting instrumental which brought a lot girl crush vibes which I loved. It was quite fast paced and it had a lot of iconic moments.

and now we’ve come the end of the blog, I hope you enjoyed this blog, feel free to look into my blog and Pinterest, until then… Bye now!

K-pop stuff: Survival shows

Warning: K-pop related content ahead

In the K-pop world, there have been a huge amount idols being produced in each generation of K-pop, which led to saturation of Idols. Slowly, people start to lose interest in Idols, in which entertainment companies use concept of survival shows, so that they can not only profit but make people more interested into talented trainees. In the past years, there have been a lot of controversies surrounding this concept. So in this blog, I will be talking about what these survival shows, the pros and cons, past controversies, and my thoughts on what this whole thing is.

What is it? and how does it work? It is a program which are conducted by entertainment companies, in which trainees(either from the same company or a series of companies) compete to debut in a group. They compete in 4-5 rounds and get chosen by their popularity and votes. In the past years, I have been watching a lot of survival shows, such as the PRODUCE 101 series, in which 101 trainees from various companies compete to debut, they have created groups such as I.O.I, WANNAONE, IZ*ONE, & X1.But these shows have more of Cons than Pros. Let’s start on a positive note, and see the Pros.

Pros: Well, they get popular. Specific trainees in these shows can receive a lot of popularity and love from fans by looks, talent and personality. They showcase their talents in the series of performances so they can show of their charms and professionalism. This can lead them to get more votes and let them debut, but that’s not always the case. When trainees don’t debut, companies can debut them under their own company, but that’s their choice.

Cons: There are a lot of cons to this, based on controversies that happened. 1. Rigged voting: This has happened with a lot of shows and have affected a lot of groups(including some trainees). Let’s take X1 as an example, this 11-member group only stayed in the industry for 5 months because the votes weren’t entirely accurate. Almost 8 of the 11 places were rigged, and this came from the PRODUCE 101 series. More information was released the previous from the same series were rigged as well. Rigged voting can occur with a lot of companies discussing with the directors, trying to persuade them.

2. Mistreating trainees: In survival show Idol school, a former trainee who participated in the show revealed that trainees that gain a little weight had to starve themselves and only eat portions as small as one French fry. The surprising thing that she revealed, is that they had to act in the show, by showing tears, telling things the producers told them, and they called it a “Reality show”.

3. Invading trainees’ privacy: During the filming of the show they put few cameras in the dorms so they can film what they’re doing, the trainees can goof around and talk to the camera. But one of the things that are not needed, that they also show things that are quite private. 4. Contracts of these project groups: When it comes to these type of shows, it’s quite uncertain to how long they will be together, sometimes it’s a year or two, or even months. It all depends on what the companies want to do and the groups’ popularity.

In conclusion, survival shows can help the trainees get exposure to performance and can help them gain popularity, but at the same time can be quite manipulated, but we always have a chance to support them individually.

And now we’ve come to the end of the blog. I hope you enjoyed this article and share your thoughts as well in the comments. If you want to support this blog, leave a like, comment or follow me to see more blogs like this and much more fun stuff. Until then…. Bye now!

K-pop theories: BLACKPINK’s “How you like that”.

BLACKPINK’s “How you like that” has got to be one of my favorite songs in their discography. Despite it not getting that much praise, I still love the song till this day. The one thing that I loved from this song was the M/V. The way they created the scenes with the props, the members’ acting and charisma, After a lot of research and finding various videos about it, I’ve come to a conclusion. In this blog, I will be explaining small hidden meanings and explaining scenes of the Music video. Let’s get into it!

See the source image

1.The first scene, Lisa appears in a mysterious temple. When you notice on top of the scene, there is a body which is amputated with big black wings ( in greek mythology, that is the goddess nike). When Lisa and Rosé Stepped out, the message was clear “the girls don’t need any goddess to rely on, they will be the goddesses of their own lives”.

  1. We see Jennie with a diamond tear on her cheek symbolizing the pain and sadness in a body of water, then we notice Jennie with an elegant look and umbrellas covering her.

3. As we notice that Jisoo was leaning on a wall full of blood.
In the latter half of the M/V, we see Jisoo with flower band on her eyes, which refers her to the goddess of justice, Themis.

4. Now Let’s go to Rosé , we notice that she is in a dark cave with full of ashes and dirt and then showing up in a flower forest? what is going on? let’s find out!
This particular scene can be easily referred to the story of the greek goddess Persephone, it means that they have to go through months of darkness before tasting glory in the months of autumn and spring.

5. In the next solo scene of Lisa, we see her amazing swag in the middle of an arab market, this can also refer to the story “Aladdin and the magic lamp” where she is dressed as Jasmine . There is also a donkey behind her which is an arab symbol, symbolizing stupidity.

5.We see Jisoo with a red outfit and burning umbrellas, holding a long list of enemies. When we noticed in Jennie’s scene there were black umbrellas, it means they are overprotected, but in Jisoo’s scene, we see the umbrellas burning down meaning they don’t need anyone to rely on.

  1. Finally, we notice in the lyrics in the last scene, it says “look up in the sky it’s a bird it’s plane” it was a phrase in the old superman movie, ‘stamp day for superman’. During the dance break, if you notice in the black dome, the continents were carved in the color of black with beaming pink lights, symbolizing their popularity and how they are going to take over the world with their music.

And now we’ve come to the end of the blog. I hope you enjoyed this theory. This theory is purely based on other videos and what their theories are on the scenes of the music video, it has not been confirmed by the agency yet. Random Thursdays: My top 4 songs in my playlist

Hello! today I will be talking about my May playlist on Spotify. I enjoy K pop a lot so all the songs are from that genre . It is not necessarily from this year but it’s a mix of a lot of years. So, Let’s look into it!

Black mamba – aespa : The song was released on the 17th of November,2020. This is actually the debut song of the group. The song portrays their concept as AI. The name aespa, is a combination of “ae” composed of the English words of Avatar and Experience ,and the English word aspect meaning two sides, which means “meeting another self and experiencing the new world”. The members have a Virtual or a digital version of themselves from a digital world known as KWANGYA. The black mamba is said to be dangerous and is set to break the connection of the members to their virtual selves. The girls fight back to be with their ae-members.

My opinions on the song: Ever since it was released it started to grow on me. It has a lot of interesting vocal parts. My personal favorite was the bridge.

MAFIA In the morning – ITZY: The song was released on the 30th of April,2021. At first, when I listened it didn’t sound that great, but as I kept listening to it, it started to grow on me. The one thing I like about the song was the bridge. It was really smooth and the tone was really good. I decided to keep it in my playlist cuz I can’t stop listening to it.

Don’t call me – SHINee – The song was released on the 22th of May,2021. This song just screams BOP to me. As soon as I heard it, it instantly went into my playlist. The one thing I like about the song is the VOCALS and the instrumental.

On the ground – ROSÉ: The song was released on the 12th of March,2021. The song was a really meaningful song to me. The message, vocals, and instrumental was a blessing to hear.

And now we have come to the end of the blog, I hope you enjoyed! until next time… Bye!
