Hobby Wednesdays: Reading books!

One of the things to do when you’re bored is Reading. It has a lot of genres and concepts that people written by various famous authors. Each person has their own taste on what they enjoy. I personally like adventurous and humor types of books. In this blog, We are going to be focusing on why reading is fun and how you can keep it as a hobby. We are going to be looking at 3 reasons. Let’s look into it!

Stress-free and calming: Reading can be helpful for your mental health. Being very stressed or working yourself too hard is never good, so reading books can help. The reason why I say this is that when you feel the book in your hands and reading the printed letters, it feels pretty nice and you can clear your mind.

Good for your eyes: Having to sit with a screen for days is hard, especially as things are online. A lot of light radiation from the screen can bring lots of harm to your eyes. Reading books everyday can help you keep your eyes in good shape. Although it might be hard to see when you have time, you can always set a screen-time reduce plan to manage your use of gadgets.

Creativity: Reading books can also expand our creativity. When we read a book, we tend to imagine and think a, but it depends on what book it might be. It can be something funny, motivational, Adventurous or sad. What we read can also influence us and also help us be creative in any form.

Talky Tuesdays: Why do we keep forgetting things?

There are lot of stuff that we tend to forget. Maybe it’s during an exam or preparing for a meeting, or just simply forgetting your friend’s birthday. The point is we’ve all done it. All of us, at sometimes, having ourselves busting out our 2 braincells, trying to remember. I’ve done it a lot of times during exams. But what makes us forget certain information?

There are so many reasons to this. But I’m going to be explaining 2, Decay and Interference.

Decay: Ever feel like the information in your mind just vanished? But we feel like it’s there. Having an incapability of trying to retrieve information is one of the reasons why we keep forgetting. This can be known as the decaying theory. It means that every memory trace you make, later on it’s starts grow faint in your mind. If the information hasn’t been recovered or recited, it will start to get disorientated.

Interference: Interference has more to do with the memories you have and how they start meddling with each other. If they are alike, interference most probably gonna occur. There are 2 basic types of interference: Proactive interference and Retroactive interference. Proactive interference is when an old memory makes it hard to recollect a new memory. Retroactive interference is when a new source of information starts to intrude the old information you learnt earlier.

But how do we make sure that we remember it well? Rehearse and recite. Rehearsing can be done orally or written. Making sure that your information is registered somewhere can make sure that you can refer it anytime and anywhere. Once you’ve done that you can start reciting and make sure it sticks in your head.

Talky Tuesdays: A question for young readers – What do you want to be when you grow up?

What do you want to be when you grow up? that’s a question a lot of people asked me and have probably asked you too. It could be your teachers, parents or even friends. A lot of us when we were younger probably said A pilot, singer, teacher, and so on. But what do you really want to be?

Having a Job has a lot of responsibilities. You got to earn well, work hard and start saving for your living. But it all depends on how you are doing at school, it can determine on what college you ‘ll go to and what job you can get. But all of us have ambitions and dreams on what we want to do in our lives. The only thing we can do now is be better each day. Motivating is a way that can keep us going. And when we keep doing it, I promise, something good will come out of it. But things will happen gradually.

If you ask me, I would have a lot to say. When I was in 6th grade I told that I wanted to be a singer or a pilot. Now, I aspire to be a graphic designer, working for big companies and designing for them. In order to do that, I have to do well in studies in order for me to have time to work on who I want to be. So I want to ask you, What do you want to be when you grow up?

A Question for young readers: Chores- Are they fun & helpful or Tiring & boring?

Do laundry. Cook food. Clean your room. These are some of the chores I do, and I sometimes kind of find it tiring and hard to do. But as I keep doing them, I start to realize why we need to know these skills, let’s look into it.

Learning household activities can help on how you manage your life as your getting older. Although it maybe hard, it’s a sign of attempting and learning. Starting at young age can be helpful later on. Once you move out and get a house, maintaining the place is really important, I mean, you don’t want your place looking a like a pile of rubble right?

It can be quite boring, but, what if there was a way to spice things up? well there is. Listening to your favorite music, watching your favorite show, listening to cool podcasts are all some of the ways that can motivate you to speed up your cleaning, and by then end of the day, it’s gonna look like a high class hotel room! You can treat yourself with some food, a nap whatever you want to make yourself happy!
